Players of Where Winds Meet have all been waiting for the same day — April 30, when Version 1.6 Flow of Dreams goes live. As the final chapter of the Hexi Trilogy, this update’s theme Flow of Dreams carries the story from Yumen Pass and Liangzhou all the way to the vast grasslands of Qinchuan. For wanderers like me who’ve followed the narrative every step of the way, this isn’t just an update — it’s walking alongside the characters through their heaviest, yet most tender, journey yet.
Let’s start with the highlight: Qinchuan. It’s not a typical stitched-together map, but a fully fledged grassland open world where terrain and vegetation shift with the seasons. These changes go beyond visuals; story atmosphere and exploration feel also transform dynamically with the seasons. If you, like me, love aimless wandering in an open world, Qinchuan might just become your new spiritual home.
Traversal has also been upgraded. The Mystic Traversal Skill: Idle Wind lets you glide freely across the grasslands — it’s more than just a travel tool, it’s a key to interacting with the environment. Using it to unlock hidden secrets and chests tucked away in seasonal corners brings back the joy of first using qinggong to scale walls in a wuxia world. Honestly, this design makes it hard to resist diving right in. If you’re looking to join or return for this update, you can prepare resources ahead of time. I always get the Monthly Card on COCODP first — it’s instant top-up, stable discounts, and lets you grab new hairstyles right at launch. Saving time to roam the grasslands is totally worth it.
Combat and exploration content are plentiful too. The World Boss Snowplum Requiem features a dual mechanics of musical rhythm + wuxia combat; no stand-and-spam gameplay, it demands sound-based positioning and team coordination. The three new strongholds each have unique flair:
Sunken City Lake: Underwater ruins with dangerous currents — not for the claustrophobic.
Dreamlike Waterscape: A maze blending reality and illusion, heavy on puzzle-solving.
Dark Campaign: Exploration and challenges using only a single light source, full of tension — my top pick to tackle.
Add three side quests that tie up Hexi lore hints, plus a Qinchuan grassland-exclusive multiplayer PvP mode — there’s something for solo players and guild members alike.
Story-wise, Version 1.6 wraps up all plot threads from Yumen Pass, Liangzhou, and Qinchuan, centering on the obsession with returning home and the truth of one’s origins, while planting seeds for future main story. As someone who cries easily, I’m ready to get emotional under the grassland sunset. The update also fixes many pain points: streamlined gear progression, adjusted Arena and Guild War mechanics, better daily quest quality of life, improved frame rate and visuals, and bug fixes — the overall experience will be much smoother.
One last reminder: To enter Qinchuan, you must complete the first two chapters of the Hexi storyline. If you haven’t finished them, now’s the time to catch up. The version celebration event has plenty of rewards. If you’re short on time and want all the perks, I recommend topping up on COCODP — it covers all denominations, safe and ban-free. I use it for Monthly Cards and Battle Passes too; it’s truly hassle-free.
See you in Qinchuan on April 30. May everyone who steps onto this land find their own way home.
