Been running around Sanctuary for a good while now? Then you probably remember the old rule — stack Armor like crazy and you were set for pretty much anything. Well, forget that. Season 11 is flipping that idea on its head.

Armor is now only good for cutting down physical damage. That’s it. No more blanket protection against all those elemental hits. Fire, poison, lightning, shadow… they’ll smash right through the Armor you’ve been hoarding. Feels rough at first, but honestly, it’s about to make hunting for the right Diablo 4 Items way more interesting than just chasing one big number.

So here’s the thing — you can’t shrug off resistances anymore. That stat you barely glanced at before? Now it’s your lifeline against anything non-physical. You’ll want Fire, Cold, Lightning, Poison, and Shadow resist all stacked up if you plan to survive late‑game stuff. Nightmare Dungeons especially will chew you up without it. Gear’s going to start throwing more +All Resistance and single‑type resist options at you, so it’s worth grabbing them instead of ignoring them like we all used to. The trick now is finding the balance between Armor for the physical blows and resistances for the elemental pain.

That balance changes how you pick gear. You’ll catch yourself weighing choices — maybe drop a bit of armor rating for a big boost in, say, fire and shadow resist if that’s what your enemies are packing. Gems matter more now too. Skulls in jewellery still help with Armor, sure. But Diamonds for +All Resistance are looking like top choices for a lot of builds. And don’t sleep on your Paragon board; those resistance nodes people used to walk right past? They’re suddenly worth a detour.

It’s actually a good shake‑up for the game. Adds a bit more thought to how we build defenses instead of just maxing one stat and calling it a day. You’ll be piecing together a layered defence now — something that can take a hit from both sword and spell without melting instantly.

When the new season lands, first thing you should do is check your resistances. Trust me, if you go in with just your old armor stack, you’re gonna spend more time respawning than fighting. Better to sort it now, while you’ve still got room to buy Diablo 4 gold and tweak what you need.
